The imagination of children is a wonderful thing; bold, free and optimistic. In Norway, Statoil have tapped into this creativity with Project Imagination (Prosjekt Fantasi), a national competition for children to find solutions to tomorrows problems. The best inventions were selected by a jury to be turned into a travelling exhibition and tour the partner science centres across Norway. Science Projects won the bid to develop and create the exhibition, working with Vilvite Science Centre (Bergen) and Try (Oslo).
Each child’s invention was represented with a ‘booth’ which included background information and an interactive exhibit related to their exhibit as closely as possible. Graphic design, (screen and print), programming and electronic were all produced in-house. During the prototyping process we had a visit from three of the children which was a wonderful opportunity for the team in the workshop to meet the people behind the wonderful ideas.
Project Imagination is part of Statoil’s long-term Heroes of Tomorrow programme which supports young people to succeed in sports, culture and science.
