The Climate Machine is the 6m wide, 5m tall centre-piece of Singapore Science Centre’s new Climate Gallery which addresses how humans influence the world’s carbon cycle.
We worked closely with the exhibition’s designer HKD to develop the Climate Machine concept design through to its construction and installation. It has five ‘Carbon Reduction Games’ relating to specific human contributions to rising carbon levels: electricity, transport, water, recycling and air-conditioning. When the game is played successfully balls get diverted away from the atmosphere.
In addition, carbon dioxide can be released from the atmosphere by hitting the carbon targets with the air cannon and speeding up the carbon corkscrew. In total the exhibit can accommodate up to nine different users who are able to work together or independently.
